Last year Lintbells launched the Mobility Matters initiative and it has been so successful that it is to be repeated this October, running through to early 2019. The practice support pack, which facilitates the setting up of nurse clinics for pets with stiff joints, will be expanded to accommodate cats. Lintbells’ team of Veterinary Business Development Executives will provide lunch and learn sessions to help practices get started with their plan.
Earlier this year the company asked veterinary professionals to share their thoughts* on the Mobility Matters programme and how it worked in their practice.
As a result of using the Mobility Matters Support Pack, 96% of vet professionals agreed or strongly agreed that they are now managing mobility issues more effectively in practice and 90% thought client compliance had increased.
It was also felt that the initiative helped with team working and 96% said they thought vets, nurses and reception staff were communicating more effectively. In addition, 95% thought the training had improved staff morale.
Clients also experienced benefits and 94% of veterinary staff felt clients were more confident about managing their pet’s condition and 92% thought more mobility issues had been identified.
In some practices, a tangible benefit to the bottom line was also in evidence and 74% said they thought practice revenue had increased.
Lintbells Brand Manager, Gemma Cunningham says the company is delighted to support practices with the Mobility Matters initiative, “We’re really pleased to be able to help practices to provide support for pets with stiff joints. This year we’ve made some exciting additions to the practice pack based on our ongoing conversations and feedback. Mobility issues in cats are often overlooked and we want to raise awareness and help support owners. By including cats this time round we hope to assist practices with their efforts to encourage cat owners to have their less active and sedentary cats checked out.”
Respondents also gave some great feedback regarding their insights into how Mobility Matters worked in their practice:
“(It) has brought the team together and boosted morale, everyone is really enthusiastic about it.”
“Loved the chart and the referral slips! Chart is excellent at structuring the clinic and (it’s) a great time to get everyone talking about it.”
“We are much more able to bring a multifaceted approach to improving and maintaining a quality of life for our senior patients, it has given owners a form and opportunity to discuss all aspects of their pet health. Thanks so much for your help setting up clinics.”
“Feel a lot more confident with mobility issues since the lunch and learn. The flip chart is useful in guiding the conversation and clients seem keen to learn more.”
The Mobility Matters practice support pack will launch in October.
