Rabbit specialist crowned ‘vet of the year’ at CEVA awards

Dr Richard Saunders praised for getting RVHD2 vaccination into the UK Rabbit specialist advisor Dr Richard Saunders was crowned ‘Vet of the Year’ at the 2018 Ceva Animal Welfare Awards. Richard, who helps guide the welfare and strategy of the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF), won the prestigious ’Chris Laurence Vet of the Year’ award for his dedication to improving rabbit welfare. Judges praised Richard for his work in getting a new vaccine into the UK to protect rabbits against RVHD2. Rae Todd, CEO of the RWAF, commented: “We’re incredibly proud of Richard for all of his hard work and delighted that he’s received recognition for his work. We all owe Richard a huge debt of gratitude for his commitment to the industry and for protecting all pet rabbits. Awards turn spotlight on practice stars

Veterinary group VetPartners held its inaugural awards ceremony to honour the success and hard work of its practices and team members. The company, which was established in November 2015, has more than 50 veterinary practices, with 2,000 employees working across 200 sites in England, Scotland and Wales. Teams were invited to nominate colleagues in eight categories, with winners revealed at the ceremony in York, along with a special award chosen by directors. Best Friends Veterinary Group, which has its headquarters in Peterborough and 28 other surgeries across the south-east and midlands, was named Practice of the Year. It employs 41 vets and 47 VNs, as well as reception and admin staff, and joined VetPartners in November 2016. VetPartners chief executive Jo Malone said: “Best Friends Veterinary Group was chosen because of its commitment to change and the huge drive for improvement in so many areas. “They wholeheartedly embraced our culture.
